I’m obsessed with this Homemade Cherry Jack & Coke Slushie. It hits like summer in a cup and I can’t stop thinking about that icy, sugary hit.

I love the way Jack Daniel’s plays with Coca Cola, messy and sweet, with a bright cherry note that makes it feel like the best kind of wrong. But it’s not just nostalgia.

It’s loud, fizzy, and somehow dangerously smooth. Boozy Slushies are my weakness and this Cherry Coke Drink sits at the top of the list.

Cold glass sweating, bright color, and the kind of sip that makes you grin every time.

Ingredients

Ingredients photo for Homemade Cherry Jack & Coke Slushie Recipe

  • Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey — basic warmth and boozy backbone, it’s smooth and familiar.
  • Classic Coca Cola — fizzy sweetness that keeps things light and playful.
  • Frozen sweet cherries — fruity chill and a little texture, basically summer in a spoon.
  • Grenadine or cherry syrup — adds deep cherry sweetness, plus a pretty red hue.
  • Fresh lime juice — bright tart pop that cuts through the sweetness, it wakes things up.
  • Crushed ice — makes it slushy and crushable, adjust for thicker or thinner sips.
  • Maraschino cherries — cute garnish and extra sweetness, looks fun in the glass.
  • Simple syrup or extra grenadine — optional boost if you like it sweeter, honestly helpful.

Ingredient Quantities

  • 2 oz Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
  • 6 oz Coca Cola (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1/2 cup frozen sweet cherries (pitted)
  • 1 tbsp grenadine or cherry syrup
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice (about 1/2 a lime)
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups crushed ice (adjust for desired slushiness)
  • 2 maraschino cherries for garnish (optional)
  • 1/4 oz simple syrup or extra grenadine, optional if you like it sweeter

How to Make this

1. Put 1/2 cup frozen sweet cherries, 1 to 1 1/2 cups crushed ice, 1 tbsp grenadine (and 1/4 oz simple syrup if you want it sweeter) into a blender.

2. Add 2 oz Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and 1/2 oz fresh lime juice.

3. Secure the lid and pulse 6 to 8 times until the cherries and ice are broken down but not totally soupy, you want a slushy texture.

4. Taste for sweetness and add more grenadine or the optional simple syrup if needed, pulse once or twice to mix.

5. Pour in about half of the 6 oz Coca Cola and give the blender a very quick 1 or 2 short pulses only, this keeps some fizz and prevents it from going flat or foamy.

6. If it looks too thin, add a bit more crushed ice and pulse once or twice. If it’s too thick, add the rest of the Coke slowly and pulse gently.

7. Spoon the slushie into a chilled glass, packing it in so it looks nice and frosty.

8. Garnish with 2 maraschino cherries and a lime wedge if you have one, or a little extra drizzle of grenadine for color.

9. Serve immediately with a straw and a long spoon, cause it will melt fast in warm weather.

10. Tip: if you like more fizz next time, freeze Coke in ice cube trays and swap some crushed ice for Coke cubes so it stays fizzy longer.

Equipment Needed

1. Blender (a sturdy one that can crush ice, don’t use a weak smoothie-only blender)
2. 1 or 2 oz jigger or a small measuring cup for the whiskey and Coke
3. Measuring spoons (for the grenadine and optional simple syrup)
4. 1/2 cup measuring cup or a small kitchen scale for the frozen cherries and ice
5. Citrus reamer or handheld juicer for the lime (you can squeeze by hand but it’s messier)
6. Long spoon or spatula to pack the slush into the glass and stir gently
7. Chilled serving glass(es) and a straw (and a long cocktail spoon if you have one)
8. Ice scoop or sturdy scoopable spoon and optional ice cube trays if you want frozen Coke cubes

FAQ

A: Not really, it’s best fresh. The carbonation and slush texture fade quickly. You can keep a small batch in the freezer for up to 1 hour, then stir or re-blend briefly before serving, but flavor and fizz will drop the longer it sits.

A: Chill the Coke and whiskey well first. Add the Coke last and pulse just a couple times so you don’t blow out all the bubbles. If you over-blend it’ll be flat, so be gentle.

A: Yes, but freeze them for at least 2 hours first or add extra crushed ice. Frozen cherries help make the slush without watering it down. If you only have fresh, chop and freeze them or use more ice.

A: Skip the whiskey and replace it with an extra 2 oz of cold cola or cherry soda, or use 2 oz of chilled black tea for a deeper flavor. Add the grenadine and lime like usual for that cherry bite.

A: Too thin, add more crushed ice and re-blend in short pulses. Too icy or grainy, add 1/4 oz simple syrup or a splash of room temp cola and blend briefly to smooth it out. Adjust in small steps.

A: Serve in a chilled glass, top with maraschino cherries and a lime wheel. Use a wide straw or short spoon. Drink responsibly and don’t let minors have any of this.

Homemade Cherry Jack & Coke Slushie Recipe Substitutions and Variations

  • Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey: swap with bourbon for a sweeter caramel note, or try aged dark rum for a richer, molasses vibe, or use a non alcoholic whiskey alternative if you’re skipping booze.
  • Coca Cola: you can use Diet or Zero Cola for fewer calories, or swap in ginger ale or root beer for a spicier, sweeter profile that still fizzes.
  • Frozen sweet cherries: frozen mixed berries or thawed fresh cherries both work, or use pitted sour cherries if you want a tangier, more cocktail-y punch.
  • Grenadine or simple syrup: replace with pomegranate juice reduced to a syrup, cherry jam stirred with a little hot water, or raspberry syrup for a fruitier sweetness if you like it different.

Pro Tips

– Chill everything first. If the whiskey, Coke and glass are cold the slush freezes up better and it won’t melt as fast when you serve it.
– To keep as much fizz as possible, freeze some Coke into ice cubes and swap a few for crushed ice. Toss the Coke cubes in at the very end and pulse only once or twice so you dont flatten the soda.
– Taste before you add more sweetener. Frozen cherries and grenadine can be pretty sweet so add extra syrup in tiny amounts and pulse briefly, you can always add more but you cant take it out.
– If your blender chews up the cherries too much, pulse fewer times and use a spoon to break up big chunks instead. Bigger cherry pieces give better texture and bursts of flavor.
